Have you ever found yourself listening to the same artist/band/DJ/group every single day for years? Falling head over heels for one of their songs? On pins and needles for any announcement and/or snippet of their latest project? Mode set to stalk for any shows within a reasonable road trip's drive? Willing to fly, even???

In middle school, I loved the Spice Girls. I'll always love the Spice Girls. I listen to them for a minimum of two weeks per calendar year. I had it so bad that I collected posters, Chupa Chups lollies, pens, notebooks, t-shirts, VHS tapes (Yes, VHS), imported CDs at $10.00+ a piece- literally, ANY and EVERY thing I could get my hands on of theirs, I threw money at. I was even made fun of for being "gay" because I loved Victoria [Posh Spice] Adams (Now, Mrs. Beckham) so much. I must admit Christina Ricci ("The Addams Family" movies) was my first girl crush and, YES, I still find myself liking her although my "Star Crush" is TOTALLY the incredibly beautiful and talented Marion Cotillard ("Love Me If You Dare" "Rust & Bone" "Big Fish" "La Vie En Rose" "Inception" and "The Dark Knight Rises" to name a few). Emilia Clarke [Khaleesi] from "Game of Thrones" plays an extremely close second...

I totally went off track...

Ever since I first discovered (My absolute favorite DJ until I either go deaf or die!) DINKA five years ago in 2010, there hasn't been a single day that I've gone without listening to her. She's a native Swiss born DJ/artist who has a portfolio of 100+ addictive, infectious, melodic, harmonious songs that I consider an amalgamation of House beats, Trance lifts and drops, incredibly heavy synth sprinkled with occasional vocals. Many consider her to be a Progressive House DJ. I can see how she can be categorized as that but I don't agree 100% for, in my opinion, she's so versatile. So... Progressive House? Yes. Deep House? At times. Trance? Sure!

I especially have an affinity for Trance. It really is funny when I think about how I feel into it... "Hackers" and "Mortal Kombat" shared a certain song: "Halcyon On+On" by Orbital. That song hit me so hard as a young teen that I had to hear more of this "Techno" music. So from Orbital, I discovered [The] Prodigy, Crystal Method, The Chemical Brothers, Rabbit in the Moon and Faithless and from them, I discovered the face of Trance: Paul Oakenfold. He opened the door to Kimball Collins, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, Ferry Corsten, Sasha,  DJ Tiesto, ATB and Kaskade. The umbilical cord of radio music was cut with a surgeon's precision. EDM (aka Electronic Dance Music) became MY absolute favorite genre of music!

Even though I have my "moments" of binging on other genres, I've ALWAYS come back to EDM and she's consistently welcomed me back with open arms. Dance music has remained one of the only constants in my life. Over the years, I have accomplished to feel each and every emotion possible, befriended strangers, interacted with artists/musicians, encountered multiple beautiful faces, exchanged a considerable amount of kisses, shared countless intimate moments, partook in some of my most memorable experiences to date. They are all unforgettable and cherished memories I just might share at a later time...
